Yard Work

After living and travelling in a van for over a year, I eventually settled back home in Ontario, Canada. I was reflecting a lot on the idea of living in a house again, and felt at odds with stationary living.

I think this piece emerged as some sort of coping mechanism to help me express how absurd it can feel to live in a house, mow the lawn, wave hi to your neighbours, and engage in all the other niceties of “regular society”. This artwork is also the first time in which Aldous arrived in my work, he has become a sort of guide for me artistically, helping me hold a cohesive structure to my visual identity.
